EPD has also be awarded an additional $5,000 to have EPD officers act as Instructors for the WSPRC. The total award being offered to EPD for 2021 is $19,727.30 with a local match of $33,260.21. The local match will be paid through Vessel Registration Funds. There will need to be a budget amendment for this award. Project summary statement: The Federal Financial Assistance Grant Award and Intergovernmental Agreement with the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission establishes the framework between the WSPRC and EPD for accomplishing patrols, classes, and special emphasis enforcement. The ultimate goals for the activities are to reduce injury from boating incidents and promote a safe and enjoyable boating environment for all users. Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): Authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents with the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission regarding the agreement, utilization, and acceptance of the $19,727.30 FFY 2021 Marine Patrol Federal Financial Assistance Grant Program.
