Generational percentages in Everett, Washington. <br />Since its founding in 1892, the Everett Fire Department has continued to offer a wide range of <br />services to residents and visitors of Everett and its neighboring communities. Initially formed <br />with a specific focus on fire suppression, the EFD has evolved into a modern, all -hazards agency. <br />Personnel respond from six strategically dispersed fire stations to deliver services that include <br />fire suppression, emergency medical services (EMS), and special operations (hazardous <br />materials response, technical rescue, and marine search and rescue). Administrative staff both <br />support and complement field operations through fire prevention activities, emergency <br />management, public education offerings, initial and in-service training, and logistical acquisition <br />and distribution. <br />The EFD responded to a total of 22,908 incidents in 2019 of which the vast majority (72%) were <br />EMS incidents. The 389 fire responses in the City of Everett in 2019 compromised less than 2 <br />percent of responses. The balance of responses was comprised of a mix of good intent calls, <br />false alarms, aid given to other agencies, etc. The EFD participates in a Snohomish County <br />automatic mutual -aid system that utilizes a borderless response approach, ensuring that the <br />closest appropriate resources arrive at an incident regardless of the jurisdiction. <br />In 2021, the EFD will have an authorized staffing level of 195, which includes both civilian and <br />uniformed staff. In addition to this, the Department has six volunteer chaplains. The <br />Department strives to understand its community and to use available data in a way that allows <br />it to deliver its services in the most efficient manner possible.
