Generational percentages in Everett, Washington.
Since its founding in 1892, the Everett Fire Department has continued to offer a wide range of
services to residents and visitors of Everett and its neighboring communities. Initially formed
with a specific focus on fire suppression, the EFD has evolved into a modern, all -hazards agency.
Personnel respond from six strategically dispersed fire stations to deliver services that include
fire suppression, emergency medical services (EMS), and special operations (hazardous
materials response, technical rescue, and marine search and rescue). Administrative staff both
support and complement field operations through fire prevention activities, emergency
management, public education offerings, initial and in-service training, and logistical acquisition
and distribution.
The EFD responded to a total of 22,908 incidents in 2019 of which the vast majority (72%) were
EMS incidents. The 389 fire responses in the City of Everett in 2019 compromised less than 2
percent of responses. The balance of responses was comprised of a mix of good intent calls,
false alarms, aid given to other agencies, etc. The EFD participates in a Snohomish County
automatic mutual -aid system that utilizes a borderless response approach, ensuring that the
closest appropriate resources arrive at an incident regardless of the jurisdiction.
In 2021, the EFD will have an authorized staffing level of 195, which includes both civilian and
uniformed staff. In addition to this, the Department has six volunteer chaplains. The
Department strives to understand its community and to use available data in a way that allows
it to deliver its services in the most efficient manner possible. Examples of current programs
that reflect this understanding and commitment to our community include the distribution of
