925 Fourth Avenue
Suite 2400 Memo
Seattle, WA 98104
r 206 623 9414
7668 Date March 21 2019
ZGFF 206 623 7868
Project No. S24009
ZIMMER GUNSUL FRASCA ARCHITECTS LLP Project Name PRMCE — D Wing Level 9
Inpatient Unit Buildout
Page No. 1 of 6
To Tony Lee, City of Everett
From Melinda Wind, Jim Harman
Subject Building Permit Review Comments —Plan Check No: B1903-002
This memo provides the responses to the Permit Review comments issued in a letter to Holly Shoubridge at Mortenson
Construction dated March 6, 2019 from the City of Everett for the Providence Everett Medical Center, D Wing, Level 9,
Impatient Unit Buildout.
Construction
1. UL listing U428 requires proprietary GWB. As generic Type X is not in the listing, the types of approved GWB (mostly
Type C) should be shown on the plans for wall types S, T & W/A8.01.
a. Note 6 on Sheet A8.01 indicates the requirement of referring to the UL listing for GWB type, however the three
partition types above could cause confusion in the field for the building inspectors.
Response: Revised gyp board at partitions S, T, and W to be Type `C' to remove proprietary requirement. See sheet A8.01 for
revisions.
2. It is not clear how wall type HcA/A8.01 will provide two-hour fire -resistance as the 2nd layer of GWB needed for 2-hour
fire -resistance stops above the ceiling.
Response: Revised note for HcA wall type to be 1-HR rated, see sheet A8.01. All locations of this wall type within the project
occur at 1-HR rated walls. There are no 2-HR rated walls for this type.
3. The following comments apply to the horizontal shaft assemblies 17 & 21 /A8.01 Listing AER-09038):
a. The listing requires Type C GWB vs. the Type X GWB shown on the details.
b. Please verify that the studs chosen do not exceed Span Table 1 provided in the listing.
Response: Revised details 17 and 21 on A8.01 to indicate Type `C' gyp board. Revised note to reflect limits of Span Table 1 to
be met in performance design of studs.
4. Shaft detail 16/A8.01 appears to use both UL 469 for the vertical portions and AER-09038 for the horizontal portions of
the assembly. Please verify as UL 469.allows Type X GWB for walls however AER-09038 requires Type C for horizontal
applications.
Response: Revised detail 16/A8.01 to show Type `C' gyp board, please see revised sheet.
5. Listings and references should be provided for the partition STC's shown on Sheet A8.01 where required by Section
1207.2
Response: References have been added for STC designated walls, please see revised sheet A8.01.
6. Walls separating the sleeping rooms from each other and sleeping rooms from the corridor/other rooms (FbA, NbA, NA,
etc.) shown with assemblies that have less than 50 STC on Sheet A8.01. Section 1207.2
AD
