Drew Martin
From:
Drew Martin
Sent:
Monday, October 29, 2018 3:04 PM
To:
'Joe Duzan'
Cc:
'Laroy Gant'
Subject:
RE: 2002 Madison I Plan Check #131809-002
Joe,
I forgot one more thing — note that this does not require action. The building code requires a drinking fountain to be
provided in the building based on the occupant count exceeding 30 people. Subsequently, the fountain should be
accessible, or an accessible fountain should be provided. We have reviewed the response stating that drinking water
will be provided by the kitchenette. While we maintain that the code would still require the drinking fountains, we have
no further comment on this issue.
Please let me know if you have questions.
CELEBRATING Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
125 Associate Engineer —Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
Y E A R S 425.257.8813 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett, WA 98201
A story worth telling everettwa.gov/permits I Facebook I Twitter
Note: Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
From: Drew Martin
Sent: Monday, October 29, 2018 12:41 PM
To: 'Joe Duzan' <joe@gantnychay.com>
Cc:'Laroy Gant' <laroy@gantnychay.com>
Subject: RE: 2002 Madison I Plan Check #131809-002
Joe,
Thanks for taking some time to discuss this project. Here are the two additional items to follow up one (not matching
the original comment letter numbering):
1. The back door should have a landing matching the interior floor elevation. Per our discussion, a 4' square
landing will be redlined. Concrete and reinforcement, the slab thickness, and any other pertinent information to
the slab construction should be specified in the structural drawings or provided to add to the architectural
drawings.
2. Verify that the exterior siding, framing, and sheathing is a least 2" above the exterior grade for the entire
building perimeter where impervious surfaces are provided against the building wall. If soil (dirt, grass, gravel,
etc.) occurs adjacent to the building wall, the clearance shall be 6" for siding and 8" for framing. Otherwise,
wood materials shall be naturally -durable or preservative -treated wood.
3. Changes to the structural drawings can be made if minor. The structural engineer will need to provide clear
direction.
'r
Let me know if you have questions.
