G1E N E <br /> GIEINIE <br /> Gene By Gene / FamilyTreeDNA <br /> Investigative Genetic Genealogy Services <br /> TERMS OF SERVICE <br /> INVESTIGATIVE GENETIC GENEALOGY SERVICE <br /> This Agreement refers specifically to the acceptable use of the Gene By Gene and <br /> FamilyTreeDNA Services for investigative genetic genealogy (IGG) purposes. <br /> This Terms of Service (TOS) Agreement establishes the legally binding terms you must accept to <br /> use the Service. These TOS cover any use of the Services including but not limited to (a) your <br /> submission of a DNA sample for DNA extraction, processing, and storage, (b) uploading a digital <br /> version of the Genetic Information with the intent of interacting with it on the FamilyTreeDNA <br /> website, and/or (c) creating and using a free FamilyTreeDNA account without providing Genetic <br /> Information or a DNA sample. To use the Services, you must first agree to these TOS. You may <br /> not use the Services if you do not accept these TOS. In addition, when using particular Services, <br /> you shall be subject to any guidelines or rules applicable to such services. All such guidelines or <br /> rules, at this moment, are incorporated by reference into these TOS. Gene By Gene may offer <br /> other services from time to time that are governed by additional or different terms of service. <br /> Law enforcement, and any third-party representative working with law enforcement, are <br /> required to register all forensic samples and genetic files prior to uploading to the <br /> FamilyTreeDNA database. Permission to use the Services is only granted after the required <br /> documentation is submitted, reviewed, and approved. <br /> By signing this TOS, the Investigating Agency and/or their third-party representative agree to <br /> the following: <br /> CRIME SCENE FORENSIC UNKNOWN <br /> 1. The use of the Services is to identify the remains of an individual or to identify a <br /> perpetrator of a homicide, sexual assault, or child abduction. <br /> UNDERTAKING INVESTIGATIVE GENETIC GENEALOGY <br /> 2. The Investigating Agency has determined that IGG is an appropriate and necessary step <br /> in the development of investigative leads. <br /> 3. If the case is solved while IGG is in progress, IGG will cease immediately. <br /> 4. The Investigating Agency agrees that no arrest will be made based solely on the <br /> identification of a potential suspect from IGG.
