The project site is an active school located at 2514 Rainer Avenue in Everett,
Washington (Figure 1). The school campus is generally divided into three areas, as shown on
Figure 2:
► The northern area is an athletic field.
► The central area is the main school campus comprising the existing school buildings, two
small parking lots, bus access lanes, covered play area, and associated campus
infrastructure.
► The southern area is located across 26th Street and consists of a parking lot and tennis
courts.
Based on the construction plans provided by NAC Architecture, redevelopment plans entail demolition
of the majority of the existing structures and associated infrastructure in preparation for campus
redevelopment and the construction of a new two-story school building. The existing gymnasium will
not be demolished, but will be integrated into the new school building. Bus access lanes and parking
areas will be relocated to the west side of the new school building, while walkways and utilities will be
reconfigured to support the new campus layout. Athletic field improvements call for a football field in
the east half of the existing athletic field with a baseball field and running track in the west half. Both
improvements call for synthetic turf surfaces and an underdrain system. The parking lot and tennis
courts across 26th Street will remain unchanged, except the tennis court surface will be converted into
additional parking stalls.
The conclusions and recommendations contained in this report are based on our understanding of the
school campus redevelopment plans as derived from construction plans and verbal information
supplied to us by the Everett School District (ESD) design team. As the design process moves
forward, any reconfiguration, relocation, and/or addition of buildings, structures, or supporting
infrastructures from the plans provided may require further review of our engineering
recommendations and modifications to this report.
Amec Foster Wheeler
Project No.6-917-18116-0 1
\\Sea-fs1\WordProc\ Projects\18000s\18116 Everett School District\Geotech Report\Revised\2017_10-19_Everett Middle School Geotech_Sx.docx
