Schedule work so that adjacent <br /> intersections are not impacted at the same time and <br /> comply with the Traffic Engineer's traffic control <br /> restrictions. Address each individual intersection closure <br /> or partial closure in the traffic control plan that was <br /> submitted to and accepted by the Engineer in <br /> accordance with Section 1-10.2(2). <br /> b. When planing or paving and related construction must <br /> occur in an intersection, consider scheduling and <br /> sequencing such work into quarters of the intersection, <br /> or half or more of an intersection with side street <br /> detours. Be prepared to sequence the work to individual <br /> lanes or portions thereof. <br /> c. Should closure of the intersection in its entirety be <br /> necessary keep such closure to the minimum time <br /> required to place and compact the HMA mixture, plane, <br /> remove asphalt, tack coat, and as needed. <br /> d. Any work in an intersection requires advance warning in <br /> both signage and a number of Working Days advance <br /> notice as determined by the Engineer, to alert traffic and <br /> emergency services of the intersection closure or partial <br /> closure. <br /> e. Allow new compacted HMA asphalt to cool to ambient <br /> temperature before allowing any traffic on it. Traffic is not <br /> allowed on newly placed asphalt until obtaining Engineer <br /> approval. <br /> 2. Comply with Section 8-23 for temporary centerline marking, <br /> post-paving temporary marking, temporary stop bars, and <br /> maintaining temporary pavement marking. <br /> 3. Comply with Section 8-22 for permanent pavement marking. <br /> 5-04.3(14)B2 Submittals - Planing Plan and HMA Paving Plan <br /> Submit a separate planing plan and a separate paving plan to the <br /> Engineer at least five Working Days in advance of each operation's <br /> activity start date. These plans must show the coordination of <br /> moving operation and traffic control as they will be discussed at the <br /> pre-planing briefing and pre-paving briefing. When requested by the <br /> Engineer, provide each operation's traffic control plan on 24 x 36 <br /> inch or larger size Drawings at a scale of 1 inch equals 20 feet <br /> showing both the area of operation and sufficient detail of traffic <br /> beyond the area of operation that may require detouring traffic. The <br /> scale on the Shop Drawings may be changed if the Engineer agrees <br /> sufficient detail is shown. <br /> The planing operation and the paving operation include, but are not <br /> limited to, metal detection, removal of asphalt and temporary asphalt <br /> of any kind, tack coat and drying, staging of supply trucks, paving <br /> trains, rolling, scheduling, and as may be discussed at the briefing. <br /> Water Main Replacement"V" Division 5-SURFACE TREATMENTS April,2021 <br /> WO No.-UP3730 AND PAVEMENTS <br /> SP-163 <br />
