CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> 7. Water and fertilize the sod during the 90 days establishment period. <br /> Schedule watering to prevent joints from drying between sod strips. Apply <br /> 6-2-4 fertilizer at 6 week intervals at the rate of 1 to 1-1/2 pounds of <br /> available Nitrogen per 1,000 square feet per application. <br /> ' Prepare areas for seeding in accordance with 8-01.3(2)A1. Seed areas in <br /> accordance with 8-01.3(2)B. <br /> Where Shown that sod is to be replaced, the work shall consist of the removal and <br /> replacement of existing lawn turf by cutting the sod to be removed into convenient <br /> sized squares or strips to uniform thickness, piling and storing in a dampened <br /> condition, and finally replacing the sod in its original position. This work will be <br /> performed where the special provisions provide for such work. <br /> ' The Contractor may at his option use sod brought in from an outside source in lieu <br /> of replacing existing sod. If the Contractor elects to use sod from an outside source, <br /> the Engineer shall approve the supply source. <br /> The sod shall be removed to a uniform depth of approximately 2-inches with an <br /> approved type of sod cutter. This operation shall be performed in such a manner <br /> as to ensure uniform thickness of sod throughout the operation. <br /> ' Where sod is to be replaced with new sod, provide new sod in accordance with 9- <br /> 14.6(8) of these Special Provisions and the Standard Specifications. <br /> Guarantee sod to survive in a healthy condition through the 90 day establishment <br /> period. The establishment period shall begin on the date the Engineer accepts the <br /> sod placement. Remove and replace, at Contractor's expense, sod that in the <br /> opinion of the Engineer is not in a healthy growing condition at the end of the <br /> ' establishment period. Provide replacement sod that is of the same mixture and <br /> grade as the surviving sod. <br /> 8-02.3(16)B Lawn Establishment <br /> Revise the second paragraph to read as follows: <br /> The lawn establishment period begins immediately after Engineer accepts the <br /> lawn planting and ends when greater than 90% of the restored area is covered <br /> with new turf growth at least 2-inches tall. <br /> Supplement 8-02.3 by adding the following: <br /> 8-02.3(17) Landscape Restoration <br /> ' Restore all disturbed areas to original condition or better. The Contractor is specifically <br /> reminded that unnecessary damage caused beyond the limits of clearing or construction <br /> shall be repaired in like or better condition at the Contractor's sole expense. <br /> ' Restore grass areas with hydroseed where directed. Provide grass seed in accordance <br /> with these Special Provisions. Grass seed and hydroseeding will be incidental to the <br /> lump sum price for Landscape Restoration. <br /> ' Provide Topsoil Type A — Import or General Turf Area Soil as the case may be in <br /> accordance with these Special Provisions incidental to the lump sum price for <br /> Landscape Restoration. <br /> ' Provide Bark Mulch in accordance with these Special Provisions incidental to the lump <br /> sum price for Landscape Restoration. <br /> 8-02.4 Measurement <br /> Delete all paragraphs in 8-02.4 and substitute the following: <br /> Bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be measured as <br /> described in Division B - Bid Item Descriptions and Section 1-09 MEASUREMENT AND <br /> PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br /> Water Main Replacement"V" Division 8—MISC CONSTRUCTION April,2021 <br /> ' WO No.—UP3730 SP—191 <br />
