• June 9, 2021 MAYOR Mayor Franklin commented on an article published by ParentMap that touts Forest Park playground as a model for inclusive play spaces for kids of all abilities. She thanked the Parks team for the new playground, which is a great resource for the city of Everett and the region. The Mayor also invited everyone to attend the Sorticulture event this weekend. COUNCIL Council Member Roberts reported on his attendance at the Riverside Neighborhood meeting last night. He also provided a liaison update on his recent meeting with Planning and Community Development staff. Council Member Roberts reported on the continuing Sound Transit realignment work. Council Member Murphy expressed concern about the Sound Transit alignment process and the announcement of an additional five-year schedule delay in the • development of the spine to Everett. He requested more information regarding the delay process and what is being done to accelerate the spine back to Everett, as well as information about the opportunities to pursue legal options against Sound Transit. Council Member Roberts stated that the Sound Transit Board has not yet made decisions about how the process might affect any given project. He added that he would make additional material available to the Council; however, discussions are still in progress. Council Member Tuohy extended condolences to the Wendt family on the recent passing of Nancy Wendt. She added that the Wendt family was influential and very involved in the Everett cultural arts community. She reported that she attended the Cultural Arts Commission meeting yesterday, and thanked Peoples Bank for its continued support of the Fourth of July events. Council Member Tuohy recused herself from the vote on Action Item No. 6 because she is employed by the Schack Art Center, which is one of the grant applicants being considered for funding. • 2
