SOUND STRUCTURAL SOMONS
yip N al WeENGINEERS
b. Please see page 13 of the revised calculation packages showing unit weights of
each diaphragm and wall assembly used in the calculations
c. Please see page 13 of the revised calculation packages showing unit weights of
each diaphragm and wall assembly used in the calculations. The 15 psf partition
weight has indeed been added per ASCE 7 Section 4.3.2.
d. The longitudinal and transverse seismic weights have been recalculated in the
revised calculations. The summation of the longitudinal seismic weights and
transverse seismic weights are now equal at level 0 (ground level). The
longitudinal and transverse weights differ because the weights of the shear walls
are not contributing to the shear on the level above.
e. The summed effective weights include all seismic weight of the structure,
including the lower half of the wall weight between level 1 (main floor) and level
0 (lower floor at ground level). This portion of the load does not add load to the
seismic force resisting system of the structure. The output has been revised to
show the additional weight tributary to floor 0.
21.The proposed design uses the proposed diaphragms to transfer the new loads into
localized collectors which pass the proposed loads directly to the shear walls. The
existing diaphragm will not be loaded beyond the original design loads. Please see
page 25 of the revised caclucation package for the diaphragm shear in the proposed
diaphragms.
22.
a. The existing diaphragms are not required to resist any additional loads from the
original design as the added loads are drug back into the existing structure via
drags in line with the existing shear walls. The existing diaphragm to shear wall
connections are to be upgraded per the shear wall schedule on sheet S-1.
b. The floor ledger connecting the diaphragm of the addition to the existing
structure has been revised in details FL1/S-2 and FL2/S-2 of the revised drawing
package. Please see pages 97-109 of the revised calculation package which
includes the anchorage design including the seismic overstrength factor per ACI
318 Section 17.2.3.5.3
c. Please see pages 90 and 91 of the revised calculation package for the design of
the collectors.
d. Confirmed, a collector has been added at the main floor in this location. The new
collector has been detailed in Detail CS3/S-2.
24113 56th Ave W - Mountlake Terrace,WA 98043 - Ph:425-778-1023 - Fax: 206-260-7490 (V)- '*\
