Capital Architects Group ,,(
2813 Rockefeller Ave.Everett,WA 98201•ph:425.317.8017 •fax:425.317.8489
06.29.2020
City of Everett Permit Services D 3200 Cedar Street Everett,WA 98201
JUL - g E112V020ED
Attention: Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
RE: Plan Check Number B2003-040, First Building Review CITY OF EVERETT
Owner: Crux LLC permit
Job Address: 5208 S 2nd Avenue Services
Drew,
Thank you for your review comments. Please note our written responses for each item below:
Architectural
1. The proposed project appears to be located at 5208 S 2nd Avenue. The project address should be verified and
the construction drawings revised as needed. Note that this comment is not duplicated for other disciplines,
and should be applied to all drawings in the submittal. See IBC Section 501.2.
Response:
We acknowledge the correct address as 5208 S 2nd Avenue and have revised the plans to reflect this.
2. The construction drawings specify replacement of the existing bridge with a new aluminum bridge. The existing
guards shown at each end of the bridge on Sheet A-1.0 are presumed to have been connected to the original
bridge, but are not connected for the replacement bridge. The following comments should be addressed:
a. Details showing the interface of the existing and bridge guards should be provided in the drawings. The
guards should comply with IBC Section 1015.4.
b. The guard ends that are not positively connected to the bridge structure should be modified to comply with
IBC Section 1607.8.1. Details modifying the guards and their connections to the supporting structures
should be provided in the construction drawings. Calculations substantiating the design should be
submitted for review.
c. Continuing with the previous comment,if connections are provided between the deck guards and the
bridge, they should be provided with isolation joints similar to Detail E2 of the bridge drawings.
Calculations substantiating that the joints comply with ASCE 7-10 Section 12.12.3. See IBC Section 1613.1.
Response:The existing guard rails on the deck and parking lot ARE NOT connected to the bridge(see
photos). The design of the bridge allows for movement of the bridge in seismic conditions. The gap
between the bridge guard rails and the existing guard rails will be less than 4"and a 4"sphere will not pass
between them.
Structural
1. Structural special inspections are required for this project. The"Statement on Special Inspections" in the
Structural General Notes on Sheet S1.1 stating that special inspections are not required should be revised. The
statement should include a table listing each type of special inspection and shall specify the extent of each
inspection(e.g.,continuous,periodic)per IBC Section 1704.3.1. See IBC Sections 107.1, 1704.2.3 and 1704.3.
Required inspections include but are not limited to:
a. Concrete post-installed anchors per IBC Table 1705.3(4).
Response:
Refer to revised sheet 51.1 for special inspection requirements.
b. Steel construction per IBC Section 1705.2.1 and AISC 360-10 Chapter N.
Response:
Refer to revised sheet 51.1 for special inspection requirements.
c. Aluminum construction per IBC Section 2002.1 and AA ADM 1-15.
Response:
Refer to response in item#2 below.
(1-1 Page
