City staff will begin flushing the Trickling Filter on November 1st, 2021 and <br /> continue doing so until November 21st, 2021. The Contractor may begin work <br /> on the Trickling Filter the morning of November 22nd, 2021. <br /> ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS SUBMITTTED FOR CLARIFICATION <br /> Q1 - Can you provide estimated weight of the existing support grating, FRP media, <br /> and surface grating to assist in estimating trucking and disposal costs? - <br /> From a field investigation performed in 2017, media bales from the top <br /> two layers were pulled and weighed. The weights of the selected media <br /> bales, including any residual biomass, ranged from 4.72 lbs. to 5.3 lbs. <br /> The specifications for the surface grating list the grating weight as 2.0 , <br /> lbs. per panel. There are approximately 80 panels. The specifications <br /> for the support grating list the grating weight as 3.0 lbs. per sq. ft. The <br /> reported total disposal weight for all grating and media from the City's , <br /> 2020 TF#2 Media Replacement project was approximately 155 tons. <br /> Q2 - Can the new grating and media be staged on site before being installed? — <br /> Yes. See Specification Section 01 6000. <br /> Q3 - Can the existing media and grating be staged on site then processed (ground <br /> up) then loaded in containers and shipped to the landfill? — The City believes <br /> there is room for the old media in the gravel parking area south of <br /> Trickling Filter#3, unless this area is taken up for storage of the new <br /> media, Contractor shall confirm this. If there is room, the old media can <br /> be temporarily stored in this area. The storage area will need full <br /> containment that prevents any runoff from leaving the perimeter of the <br /> media storage area.
