City staff will begin flushing the Trickling Filter on November 1st, 2021 and
continue doing so until November 21st, 2021. The Contractor may begin work
on the Trickling Filter the morning of November 22nd, 2021.
ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS SUBMITTTED FOR CLARIFICATION
Q1 - Can you provide estimated weight of the existing support grating, FRP media,
and surface grating to assist in estimating trucking and disposal costs? -
From a field investigation performed in 2017, media bales from the top
two layers were pulled and weighed. The weights of the selected media
bales, including any residual biomass, ranged from 4.72 lbs. to 5.3 lbs.
The specifications for the surface grating list the grating weight as 2.0 ,
lbs. per panel. There are approximately 80 panels. The specifications
for the support grating list the grating weight as 3.0 lbs. per sq. ft. The
reported total disposal weight for all grating and media from the City's ,
2020 TF#2 Media Replacement project was approximately 155 tons.
Q2 - Can the new grating and media be staged on site before being installed? —
Yes. See Specification Section 01 6000.
Q3 - Can the existing media and grating be staged on site then processed (ground
up) then loaded in containers and shipped to the landfill? — The City believes
there is room for the old media in the gravel parking area south of
Trickling Filter#3, unless this area is taken up for storage of the new
media, Contractor shall confirm this. If there is room, the old media can
be temporarily stored in this area. The storage area will need full
containment that prevents any runoff from leaving the perimeter of the
media storage area. Should this area be used, upon completion of the
Addendum 1 Page 2
CITY OF EVERETT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8800 • Fax(425) 257-8882
