Exhibit A—Description of Changed Work
This Change Order No. 26 adds three (3) new items to Schedule B as shown below.
Item #B-122—Architectural Railing Systems-HSS Support for Guard Railing System
Modifications. Add new item# B-122 entitled, "Architectural Railing Systems-HSS Support for
Guard Railing System Modifications" at the agreed to Lump Sum Price of$40,392.00, resulting in a
Contract increase of$40,392.00.
Item #B-123—Bridge Lighting Router/Antenna Modifications. Add new item#B-123 entitled,
"Bridge Lighting Router/Antenna Modifications" at the agreed to Lump Sum Price of$4,223.00,
resulting in a Contract increase of$4,223.00.
Item #B-124—Disputes Review Board (DRB) Chairman Reimbursement. Add new item#B-124
entitled, "Disputes Review Board (DRB) Chairman Reimbursement" at the Contract requirement of
50% of total Chairman costs, by crediting $24,768.00 to the City of Everett, resulting in a Contract
decrease of$24,768.00.
Justification
Item #B-122—Architectural Railing Systems-HSS Support for Guard Railing System
Modifications. This new item is being added to account for all field and fabrication shop costs
associated with modifying the architectural railing systems on the bridge. Following the concrete
placement for the bridge decks, the steel stringers supporting the concrete decks deflected more than
anticipated. Since the railing frames were already designed and fabricated, the straight frames needed
to be modified to fit the final curved surface caused by the additional deflection. This modification
work required transporting material to the contractor's fabrication shop, cutting frame material,
redesigning the railing support system to fit, new layout of railing support system, acquiring new
materials, welding materials, and transporting modified railing support system to the jobsite and
installing the modified railing support system. This additional work required 27.5 working days.
Item #B-123—Bridge Lighting Router/Antenna Modifications. This new item is being created to
account for costs for a new antenna, and to relocate the router and antenna for the bridge lighting in a
location that allows the signal to reach all areas of the bridge, so that all of the color lighting may be
used to illuminate the lower parts of the bridge. These modifications will enable the colored bridge
lighting to work throughout the entire length of the bridge.
