Ile
Joe 1Cozlovski6—.
DATE January 19, 1976
Su VJLCT CASCADE SAVINGS & LOAN
ASSOCIATION CONSTRUCTION
u
C11Y OF LVLRLTT, LVE"ETT. WASH114GION
A meeting was held in the Mayor's Conference Room Tanuary 9, 1975 at 10:00 a.m.
to discuss the Cascade construction plans for their new building on the "Woolworth"
site at Hewitt and Colby.
In attendnace were Ben Newland, Bud Krom of Water Department, Jamie Johnson
and Larry Callahan of Inspection, Fred Oehlert of Engineering, Jack Requa of
Transit and Joe Kozlovskf.
Mr. Newland stated he was general contractor for the Cascade building and that
Ile expects to schedule the work so that he can begin demolition of the Woolworth
building about the 1st of February. Their
investigation has shown that there is a 6 inch diameter fire line serv-
ing the building plus two 2-inch diameter domestic service lines.
These three lines should be disconnected before demolition occurs.
2. Jamie Johnson indicated that the plans are in final stages of review
in his department and there are two major items that need to be
cleared up before permit can be issued. The first is that the out-
side stairway to the mezzanine should be enclosed and the second
is that it was necessary to obtain a fire rating for the use of wood
joists within the building.
3. Mr. Newland indicated that he does not yet have his present sub-
contractors chosen but he will need space outside of the building
line within the public -right-of-way for four construction shacks
plus space for storage and materials and maneuvering of trucks
and cranes to be used in the construction process. There was
considerable discussion about the amount of space needed and the
