The hoods have been submitted as a separate permit and the information related to the
hood installation has been included in the building permit architectural drawings for
reference purposes only. For coordination and continuity,we would like to keep the hood
information in the building permit set. Hood specific items such as hood construction and
supports have been clearly noted as "For Reference Only - Not For Construction", and
clouded with Delta #1. Building modifications to facilitate the hood installations will be
included as part of this building permit.
d. Continuing with the previous comment, minor modifications to the building to facilitated
installation and support of the hoods may be included in the building permit or the
mechanical permit. If the sketch is retained, the building modifications should be clearly
delineated as part of this permit.
Modifications to the building to facilitate installation and support of the hoods will remain
part of the building permit submission, labeled accordingly, and clouded with Delta#1.
e. The sketch appears to show connection of Type I hoods to the existing wood frame walls.
The hoods are required to comply with the minimum clearance requirements to
combustible construction. Modifications to the wall should be included in the building
permit to provide the minimum required clearance. See IMC Section 507.2.6.
The existing walls will be provided with compliant wall protection at the Type I hood. See
detail 6/A9.1 that has been added and clouded with Delta#1.
2. Partial Plan 2/A1.2 shows new exhaust ducts for the Type I hoods. It is presumed that the ducts
between the hoods and the shafts will be constructed to provide the require fire protection with
the adjacent combustible construction. The construction of the ducts should be shown in the
drawings,or is required to be specified in the permit submittal for the hoods. See IMC Section
506.3.6.
To clarify,we are installing one(1)Type I hood and one(1)Type II hood. I have noted this
on drawing 2/A1.2 and clouded it with Delta#1.Within the building, the Type I hood will
be wrapped using 3M Fire Barrier Duct Wrap 615+. Refer to detail 7/A9.1 clouded with
Delta#1.
3. Partial Plan 2/A1.1 shows a new walk-in refrigeration unit accessed through a new door in the
exterior wall. A detail should be provided showing that the doorway includes an accessible
threshold. See IBC Section 1101.2 and ICC A117.1-09 Section 404.2.4.
Please see details 9&10/A9.1 for threshold condition and flashing at the walk-in cooler
door. Details have been clouded with Delta#1.
4. Details for the new interior walls are provided on Sheet A9.1. A detail specifying the top and
bottom sill connections to the structure should be provided. The connections should be
adequate for a 5 psf load on the wall surfaces. See IBC Section 1607.14.
Please see detail 8/A9.1 for top and bottom sill connection detail. Detail has been clouded
with Delta#1.
Novenber 16,2020 CLARK I BARNES 2
