The framing shall be evaluated for the loads imparted to the structure. The sizes and grade of the materials shall be determined, or lower-bound properties shall be considered to ensure that the framing is not overloaded. See IBC Section 101.4.7, and IEBC Sections 807.4 and 807.5. The reduced seismic loads per Section 807.5 shall not apply (i.e., full IBC seismic loads shall be considered). Full wind loads shall also be considered. Miscellaneous: 18.The project includes guards (i.e., handrails and supporting posts). The guards shall be designed to resist the loads per IBC Section 1607.8.1. Calculations substantiating the design shall be submitted for review. Details for the connections between the railing and posts, and the posts and supporting structure, shall be included in the construction drawings. Where posts connect to rim boards and stair stringers, additional calculations and details shall be provided to prevent torsion in the framing and develop the loads into the supporting framing. See IBC Sections 1603.1 and 1604.1. This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit requirements.
