• <br /> August 11, 2021 <br /> President Stonecipher stated she was struck by legislative agenda coming from a <br /> place to address some perceived wrongs. She asked Chief Templeman to help <br /> council members understand some of the typical calls officers face that will be <br /> changed or impacted by most of these laws. <br /> Chief Templeman reviewed some of the types of calls impacted by the new <br /> legislation. <br /> Mayor Franklin thanked Chief Templeman, Lacey, and the entire team who spent <br /> hundreds of hours analyzing the impacts to the Police Department. She stated <br /> Administration will continue to update Council and will work on ways to share <br /> information with the public. <br /> City Update Re: Homelessness - Update on current and future strategies to <br /> address challenges and opportunities <br /> Presented by Julie Willie, Community Development; Police Chief <br /> Templeman <br /> • <br /> Julie Willie provided an update on the City's response to homelessness and the <br /> City's goals for working in partnership across the County. <br /> Council Member Murphy inquired about the legality of sidewalk encampments <br /> and what services are currently being offered to those individuals. He also asked <br /> about the current capacity at the pallet shelter project. <br /> Council Member Tuohy inquired about the current capacity of the mission and <br /> feeding centers. With the protections for renters and homeowners for closures <br /> and evictions in place, Council Member Tuohy asked about any plans in place to <br /> assist. <br /> Julie stated she would provide additional information regarding plans for <br /> protections at a future date. <br /> Council Member Vogeli stated the Council can assist by writing policy to create <br /> more affordable and abundant housing. <br /> • <br /> 8 <br />
