p • • Section 27: Construction. Water for building purposes will be charged for at meter rates, or at the option of the Water Department, at the following rates: Lime: 150' per barrel; Cement: 100' per barrel for the first 100 barrels, over 100 barrels at 5¢' per barrel; Curing pavement 30 per sq. yd. ; Earthwork settling 27¢' per 10 cu. yds. If the owner does not produce receipts of the total quantity of building material used, the Water Superintendent shall estimate the amount of material used and this amount shall be charged against the property and must be paid before water is turned on for domestic purposes. Section 28: Deposit by Contractors. Whenever in the judgment of the Superintendent it may be necessary to protect the Water Department from loss, a deposit may be required sufficient in amount to cover the value of not more than three months estimated use of water by meter, to be returned when the use of water is discontinued and all arrears are paid. Section 29: Permits. No person shall make connection to, or alterations in any pipe whereby water may be drawn from the City mains, or taking water from any fire hydrant, bib, nine, or fixture of any kind without first having secured a permit for the same from the Water Department. Section 30: Special permits. Permits for sprinkling, private hydrants, irrigation, hose connections, closets or bath tubs, will be granted only to parties paying for use of water on their premises for other purposes. Section 31: Sprinkler Systems. Water for standpipes and automatic sprinkler services for fire protection shall be supplied only through an approved fire service meter. Water shall not be introduced into any premises without application of the property owner or his agent having been first made to the Water Department and granted officially. In all cases where a property owner has installed any system of water pipes for fire protection or for sprinkler system without having made proper application to the Water Department therefor, he shall be considered as acting in violation of the rules and regulations of the Water Department and subject to the penalties prescribed by law. Water shall not be turned into any sprinkler service until the person or company installing such service shall report same to the Water Department; the installation report shall specify: 1. Size of mains used in the system. 2. Number of fire hydrants and size of same, whether standard hydrants or smaller size. 3. Number of sprinkler tips in automatic sprinkler ser.rice. Before the installation of any sprinkler service system, plans shall be submitted to the Superintendent of. the Water Department for approval. -10-
