p <br /> • <br /> • <br /> Section 27: Construction. <br /> Water for building purposes will be charged for at meter <br /> rates, or at the option of the Water Department, at the following <br /> rates: Lime: 150' per barrel; Cement: 100' per barrel for the <br /> first 100 barrels, over 100 barrels at 5¢' per barrel; Curing <br /> pavement 30 per sq. yd. ; Earthwork settling 27¢' per 10 cu. yds. <br /> If the owner does not produce receipts of the total quantity of <br /> building material used, the Water Superintendent shall estimate <br /> the amount of material used and this amount shall be charged <br /> against the property and must be paid before water is turned on <br /> for domestic purposes. <br /> Section 28: Deposit by Contractors. <br /> Whenever in the judgment of the Superintendent it may be <br /> necessary to protect the Water Department from loss, a deposit <br /> may be required sufficient in amount to cover the value of not <br /> more than three months estimated use of water by meter, to be <br /> returned when the use of water is discontinued and all arrears <br /> are paid. <br /> Section 29: Permits. <br /> No person shall make connection to, or alterations in any <br /> pipe whereby water may be drawn from the City mains, or taking <br /> water from any fire hydrant, bib, nine, or fixture of any kind <br /> without first having secured a permit for the same from the Water <br /> Department. <br /> Section 30: Special permits. <br /> Permits for sprinkling, private hydrants, irrigation, hose <br /> connections, closets or bath tubs, will be granted only to parties <br /> paying for use of water on their premises for other purposes. <br /> Section 31: Sprinkler Systems. <br /> Water for standpipes and automatic sprinkler services for <br /> fire protection shall be supplied only through an approved fire <br /> service meter. Water shall not be introduced into any premises <br /> without application of the property owner or his agent having been <br /> first made to the Water Department and granted officially. <br /> In all cases where a property owner has installed any <br /> system of water pipes for fire protection or for sprinkler system <br /> without having made proper application to the Water Department <br /> therefor, he shall be considered as acting in violation of the <br /> rules and regulations of the Water Department and subject to the <br /> penalties prescribed by law. <br /> Water shall not be turned into any sprinkler service until <br /> the person or company installing such service shall report same <br /> to the Water Department; the installation report shall specify: <br /> 1. Size of mains used in the system. <br /> 2. Number of fire hydrants and size of same, whether <br /> standard hydrants or smaller size. <br /> 3. Number of sprinkler tips in automatic sprinkler <br /> ser.rice. <br /> Before the installation of any sprinkler service system, <br /> plans shall be submitted to the Superintendent of. the Water <br /> Department for approval. <br /> -10- <br />
