• <br /> The expense of tapping mains, making connections, testing <br /> completed work, placing valves, meters or any other protective <br /> device that the Superintendent may deem necessary to prevent the <br /> illegal use of water, shall in all cases be borne by the owner <br /> of the property benefitted. <br /> The Water Department shall not be held to guarantee the <br /> sufficiency of its water supply for fire protection in any fire <br /> or sprinkler system; and the Water Department shall not be liable <br /> for the failure of water through said private fire or sprinkler <br /> service, whether occasioned by the scarcity of water in its mains, <br /> lack of pressure from any cause, or the breaking of any valve, <br /> main or connection, or from the shutting off of water for repair- <br /> ing new connections or for any other justifiable cause. <br /> Section 32: Sprinkling Regulations. <br /> Sidewalk sprinkling shall be confined to the limits of the <br /> front and sides of the premises for which application has been <br /> made, and shall not extend to the adjoining street. The Water <br /> Department reserves the right, in the case of shortage of water, <br /> or for any other reasonable cause, to make any order forbidding <br /> or limiting the use of water for irrigation, sprinkling, sluicing, <br /> or manufacturing purposes; and may at its discretion make such <br /> order at any time; upon any violation of this rule, the water may <br /> be turned off from the premises without notice, and the same shall <br /> not be turned on again until the owner or occupant of the premises <br /> shall have paid to the Water Department the charge of Two dollars <br /> ( 2.00) for inspection and turning the water off and on. <br /> No water from the Everett Water System shall be used by <br /> any person for sprinkling purposes at any time except through a <br /> nozzle or automatic sprinkler, and during the sprinkling months, <br /> only within the time given in the sprinkling regulations (last <br /> published) . <br /> No automatic sprinkler shall be set upon or so near a <br /> sidewalk that the water therefrom will fall upon the walk. <br /> Water used for the sprinkling of lawns shall be reasonably <br /> used and not wasted nor allowed to run into the street gutters. <br /> Sprinkling shall be confined to the lot or lots and park- <br /> ing strips on which water is being paid for domestic purposes. <br /> Water shall not be turned on to any dormant tap for <br /> sprinkling; purposes when water for domestic purposes is supplied , <br /> through another connection or metered connection. r� <br /> Sprinkling rates for metered services entitled to such for <br /> the months of June, July, August and September shall be paid for <br /> at the rate arrived at by taking the average of the previous <br /> months of March, April, and May. Other metered services will be <br /> allowed to sprinkle at any and all _hours at metered water rates <br /> unless there is a shortage of water. <br /> Section 33: Unlawful use of Water. <br /> Any person or persons who shall take or use City water <br /> without having previously contracted for the same shall be deemed <br /> guilty of a misdemeanor and punished accordingly. <br /> Section 34: Connection Charges. <br /> For sizes larger than three-quarter inch the actual cost <br /> of labor and material used in laying such service and replacing <br /> the pavement shall be charged.
