REP LAC EMENT S <br /> Replacements shall be made at the expense of the <br /> local improvement district causing the same. By "1eplacement" is <br /> meant the installation of new pipe, either feeder or lateral, or a <br /> change of level or service made necessary by the construction of <br /> local improvements, such as paving, sidewalks, regrades, etc. <br /> There shall be credited upon the cost of such replacements of <br /> lateral lines the accrued depreciation of the line replaced, pro- <br /> rated to each lot in proportion to the amount paid by said lot <br /> upon the cost of the original lateral. <br /> The Vyater Department will maintain all water mains <br /> owned and operated by the City. <br /> Section 9: Cross Connections -- Private Fire Systems: <br /> 9A-For the purpose of this ordinance, a cross-connection <br /> is declared to be a physical arrangement whereby the public water <br /> supply system of the City of Everett, either within or without <br /> the limits of said City, is connected with another water supply <br /> system, either public or private, in such a manner that a flow <br /> of water into said Everett water supply system from such other <br /> water supply system is possible. <br /> 9B-For the purpose of this ordinance, a by-pass is declared <br /> to be a physical arrangement whereby water may be diverted around <br /> any gate valve, check valve or meter. <br /> 9C-All cross-connections with the Everett public water <br /> supply system either v.ithin or without the corporate limits of the <br /> City of Everett, shall be prohibited on and after the effective <br /> date of this ordinance. <br /> 9D-No by-pass shall be established or maintained after said <br /> effective date of this ordinance. <br /> 9E-After the effective date of this ordinance, the public <br /> water supply system of the City of Everett shall be made available <br /> for private fire protection systems by the following methods only: <br /> 9F-Construction of a pump, well, or reservoir to which the <br /> City mains are connected, pumps taking suction from well or <br /> reservoir and pumping to an elevated tank for storage and pressure; <br /> or <br /> 9G-An elevated tank or standpipe supplied at the top and <br /> above the overflow by a connection from the city Main. Such tank <br /> or standpipe may then be connected to the fire protection system; <br /> or <br /> 9H-Two independent systems of piping without any connection <br /> whatsoever, one being supplied from the City mains and the other <br /> from the independent water supply. <br /> Section 10: Plumbing Permits. <br /> It shall be the duty of the plumbing inspector to report in <br /> writing to the Superintendent of the V,ater Department all premises <br /> inspected by him where City Water is used or about to be used, <br /> within forty-eight (48) hours after such inspection; such report <br /> to contain the name of the owner, the official house number and <br /> the name of the street and the plumber performing the work, to- <br /> gether with an accurate list of all new or additional fixtures <br /> installed on each separate premises. The plumbing inspector shall <br /> cause stop and waste cocks to be so placed as to thoroughly drain <br /> all pipes and fixtures on each separate premises. <br /> -3- <br />
