• <br /> August 25, 2021 <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Roberts expressed appreciation for the action taken by <br /> Snohomish County in response to events in Afghanistan. He added that he looks <br /> forward to welcoming refugees and acknowledged the struggle for many veterans <br /> who have served overseas and thanked them for their service. <br /> Council Member Bader requested more information regarding his previous <br /> request that additional hours be added to the Library schedule due to the start of <br /> the school year. He also reported that he has received many reports from citizens <br /> regarding public camping and expressed support for the use of American Rescue <br /> Plan (ARP) funds for the addition of more pallet shelters at the Everett Gospel <br /> Mission location or in other areas that neighbors would support. <br /> Council Member Murphy provided a liaison report from his attendance at the <br /> Public Facilities District (PFD) Board meeting earlier this week. He noted that the <br /> Washington State Auditor's Office recently completed two audits, which yielded <br /> • <br /> positive results. Council Member Murphy also highlighted two upcoming <br /> downtown Everett events: Upper Left Beerfest, Friday,August 27-Sunday,August <br /> 29; and the Everett Food Truck Festival on Saturday, August 28. <br /> Council Member Tuohy thanked Council Member Roberts for his sentiments <br /> regarding the welcoming of refugees from Afghanistan, and she also thanked <br /> veterans for their service. Council Member Tuohy stated she looked forward to <br /> receiving more information on housing options for unhoused individuals on the <br /> streets and possible ideas for a day center. <br /> President Stonecipher noted that Proposed Action Item #2 was pulled from the <br /> agenda. She announced that beginning September 15, 2021, the City Council will <br /> be transitioning weekly meetings to the Zoom teleconferencing platform, which <br /> will provide video communication capability to citizens wishing to make public <br /> comment. President Stonecipher also expressed support for Council Member <br /> Bader's earlier comments regarding the need for additional pallet shelter housing. <br /> She noted the Council is still awaiting a briefing from Administration on plans to <br /> address the unhoused in the community. <br /> i <br /> 2 <br />
