O 0
b. The wall assembly should specify the required fasteners between the sheathing and
framing. See IRC Section R602.10.4 and Table R602.10.4.
Response: Note added to refer to fastening schedule on new sheet A600.
c. The wall pier on Plan 1/A104 between the door and building corner on the west side
should be increased to a minimum of 24 inches per IRC Figure 602.10.7(Condition 4).
Response: The pier has been increased to 24"
.MA
9. The requirements for the roof construction do not appear to be specified. See IRC
Section 106.1.1. The following comments should be addressed:
a. The roof sheathing should be specified, including the grade, orientation, layout (e.g.,
staggered), and blocking requirements. See IRC Section R803.2.
Response: Noted on Roof Framing Plan (new sheet A105):
b. Section 1/A304 does not provide a continuous lateral load path between the roof and
wall sheathing for the north and south walls. The design should be revised. See IRC
Section R602.10.8.2 and Figure 602.10.8.2.
Response: See response to #1(above).
10. Section 1/A303 specifies a metal strap at each end of the pre-engineered trusses. The
make and model of the straps should be specified. The strap should comply with the
design loads of Sections 106.1.1 and IRC R802.11.1.1.
Response: Per table R802.11 the uplift forces are less than 200 pounds per connection.
Per section R802.11.1, the trusses can be nailed instead of providing straps. The straps
have been eliminated.
Best,
Fi=
Andrew Stewart
:Pag:e:4:of4)
