the early growing season, wetland hydrology determinations are made based on physical
evidence of recent inundation or saturation (i.e. water marks, surface soil cracks, water -stained
leaves).
6.0 BOUNDARY DETERMINATION FINDINGS/RESULTS
Three wetlands (Wetland A, B, and C) and one stream (Stream A) were identified on the subject
site. Wetlands and streams were classified under the Cowardin classification system (Cowardin et
al. 1979). Wetlands were also classified under the hydrogeomorphic (HGM) system (Brinson
1993). The wetlands were rated pursuant to the Washington State Wetland Rating System for Western
Washington (Hruby 2014), which is consistent with section 19.37.090(C) of the City of Everett
Municipal Code (EMC). Streams were also classified according to EMC 19.37.160.
Wetland A
Cowardin classification: Palustrine, Forested, Broad-leaved deciduous, Saturated
HGM Rating classification: Slope
City of Everett/Ecology classification: Category III (17 points, habitat score = 5)
Standard Buffer: 80 feet
Wetland A is a slope wetland per the Hydrogeomorphic (HGM) classification system (Brinson
1993). This wetland is 627 square feet in size and is located in the southern portion of the
property, adjacent to Stream A. Wetland A receives hydrology from precipitation and
groundwater and drains to Stream A.
Vegetation within the wetland is dominated by red alder (Alnus rubra; FAC), salmonberry (Rubus
spectabilis; FAC), false lily of the valley (Maianthemum dilatatum; FAC), Skunk cabbage (Lysichiton
amencanus; OBL), and lady fern (Athyrium filix femina, FAC). Vegetation in the area mapped as
Wetland A rates FAC or wetter, indicating that a hydrophytic plant community is present.
Soils in Wetland A are typically very dark grayish brown (IOYR 2/2) with a silt loam texture in
the upper 8 inches. From 8 to 18 inches depth, soils are black (IOYR 4/1) with a silty clay loam
texture and contain very dark brown (7.5YR 3/4) redoximorphic concentrations in the matrix.
This soil profile meet the hydric soil indicator Depleted Matrix (F3).
At the time of the site visit on June 6, the wetland was saturated to 8 inches depth. Therefore,
Wetland A meets the primary hydrology indicator Saturation (A3).
Based on the indicators observed, the area mapped as Wetland A meets the vegetation, soils, and
hydrology criteria for wetland.
APV Ventures LLC —Dakota Way 5 Critical Area Report' Buffer Mitigation
WRI #20015 Plan & Habitat Assessment
April 27, 2020
