loam texture and contain 5 percent dark brown (7.5YR 3/4) redoximorphic concentrations in
the matrix. This soil profile meet the hydric soil indicator Redox Dark Surface (F6).
At the time of the site visit on June 6, the wetland was saturated to 4 inches depth. Wetland C
therefore meets primary hydrology indicator Saturation (A3).
Based on the indicators observed, the area mapped as Wetland C meets the vegetation, soils, and
hydrology criteria for wetland.
Stream A
Cowardin Classification: Riverine, Intermittent, Streambed, Cobble-Gravel/Sand
Stream Classification: Type F
Standard Buffer: 150 feet
Stream A is a seasonally flowing tributary of Swamp Creek. The stream enters the subject site via
a culvert under Dakota Way from the north and flows south through the central portion of the
site. The on -site portion of the stream flows through a forested ravine that continues off site to
the south. Stream A joins the main stem of Swamp Creek approximately 0.9 miles to the south of
the site.
The on -site portion of Stream A ranges from 3.6 to 17.7 feet in width with an average width of
approximately 14 feet. The gradient of the on -site stream is less than 16 percent. The substrate is
cobble/gravel and sand. The channel contains large, woody debris that can provide important
habitat for aquatic species. These conditions meet the definition of a Type F stream.
Downstream of the subject site, Stream A flows through a culvert under 16th Place West, then
through an open channel for approximately 85 feet, and then enters the piped stormwater
drainage system for approximately 575 feet where it outlets to a detention pond and merges with
Swamp Creek. The piped stream segment represents a barrier to fish passage so Stream A does
not support anadromous salmonids. Because this stream is seasonal, it cannot support resident
fish populations. Publicly available online resources including StreamNet, SalmonScape, and
Priority Habitats and Species do not show any documented salmonid fish use in Stream A.
Although Stream A is classified as a Type F stream, it does not appear that it currently supports
fish species.
The on -site buffer of Stream A includes a corridor of forested habitat directly adjacent to the
stream, while the remaining buffer areas on the property consist of maintained lawn. Pursuant to
EMC 19.37.170(A)(3), Type F streams with buffers that are unvegetated, sparsely vegetated, or
vegetated with invasive species receive 150-foot protective buffers.
APV Ventures LLC— Dakota Way 8 Critical Area Report, Buffer Mittation
WRI #20015 Plan & Habitat Assessment
April27, 2020
