Element 5: Stabilize Soils (2.1.5)
West of the Cascade Mountains Crest
Season
Dates
Number of Days Soils Can
be Left Exposed
During the Dry Season
May 1 — September 30
7 days
During the Wet Season
October 1 —April 30
2 days
Soils must be stabilized at the end of the shift before a holiday or weekend if needed based on
the weather forecast.
Anticipated project dates: Start date: TBD
Will you construct during the wet season? (TBD) Yes
M
End date: TBD
List and describe BMPs: Mulching C121 — Mulching may be used if needed.
Plastic Covering C123 — Use to stabilize stockpiles or
slopes as needed.
Topsoiling C125 - Use as stabilization when final grade is
achieved.
Surface Roughening C130 — trackwalk marks shall be
perpendicular to direction of flow to create small berms to
slow down surface water.
In general, earthwork can be completed in a short amount
of time as the project consists entirely of earthwork activity.
The most effective way to miminimze the risk of erosion is
to complete the work during dry weather. If rain is
encountered, the contractor shall make efforts to minimize
the amount of work done to areas that can be quickly
completed and stabilized whenever feasible.
Installation Schedules: Mulching and plastic covering shall be used when soils are
to remain unworked for periods specified above.
Inspection and Maintenance plan: All BMP's shall be inspected weekly and after each rainfall
event.
Remove sediment from trap when it reaches 1' in depth.
Repair any damage to the embankments or slopes.
Repair fence when any holes or disruption of the fence
occurs.
Responsible Staff: Contractor's CESCL - TBD
