The <br />original engineer, b2 Structural Engineers, was notified of Structural Design Associates' involvement. <br />This letter is in response to the city comments issued November 1" 2019 and shall be read in conjunction <br />with the new calculations and mark-ups issued by this office 02/11/2020. <br />The following is our response to those comments: <br />Structural <br />General: <br />1. The revised design followed the requirements of the 2015 International Building Code-, <br />2. Existing concrete compressive strength testing specified on S 1.0, "Special Inspections". <br />Calculations assiune a minimum f c = 2,500 PSI. <br />3. New concrete is required at the cantilevered deck footings. These footings are classified as <br />"buried footings" with ail exposure class of FO per ACI 318. See S 1.0, "Concrete Note", Note#2 <br />for more information. <br />4. New concrete, reinforcement, , nd steel is required with the revised drawing set. Special <br />Inspection list is limited to project scope. <br />5. Shear walls, holdowns, and details are limited to project scope in the revised drawing set. <br />Foundation System: <br />6. Concrete foundation wall, footing, and reinforcement infornnation taken from original drawings <br />provided by client. See the Foundation Plan and detail 1/52.0 for existing footing sizes and <br />reinforcement. Existing material properties note added to S 1.0. <br />7. See calculation package for foundation calculations. <br />8. The deck is now simply supported to resolve all gravity loads. A live load of 60 psf is applied per <br />the requirements of the 2015 IBC. <br />9. The deck is now simply supported to resolve all gravity loads. For the purpose of analysis, the <br />deck joist is non -continuous and simply supported. These conditions permit a notch per the AWC <br />NDS-15. <br />10. The deck is now simply supported to resolve all gravity loads. A single 2x12 with a 1"notch at <br />1.6" on center is deemed adequate. See calculation MB8. <br />11. The deck is now simply supported. Uplift from the deck at the existing 6xl2 beam is negligible. <br />Lateral System: <br />12. A marriage shear wall is detailed between the new and existing stricture.
