I am disappointed about this requirement as it's quite
expensive to get this letter from a geotechnical engineer. Is there an option for me tc
appeal this requirement? I feel that because my neighbors existing property on both
sides is closer to the "critical area" than what I am proposing, common sense would
allow me to complete my addition. I would like to know the reason that I am not
allowed to build on a grandfathered existing area for our proposed family room
addition.
If there is no recourse, I would like to either postpone this portion of our addition until
a later phase or delete the covered patio and family room bump out completely. Could
we remove this portion of the work or put a note on the plans that states that the back
covered patio and backyard family room addition is contingent on the letter, so we
could move forward with the rest of the project? Please let me know as we would like
to get our permit issued as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Calvin Vander Veen
Vander Veen Construction
206.949.1014
