ADUs are currently only permitted in the A-1, R-S, R-1, and R-2 zones; this is also noted on the ADU
checklist you submitted with your permit application. Please refer to EMC 19.03 for a User Guide to assist you in utilizing
Title 19.
Unfortunately, because the use is prohibited in this zone, at this time Planning staff cannot approve your permit and
must mark it as denied.
Please note: the City is currently underway with "rethink zoning" efforts which would see some changes to the current
zoning and development code requirements. As such, there is a possibility that within the next few months an ADU may
be allowed on your property due to the proposed changes. You can visit that link for the draft regulations, timeline,
maps, and contact information should you have any questions regarding that process and how it may affect this
property.
Note: these requirements are only in relation to the land use code and do not account for all possible requirements from
other departments. Please contact Permit Services at everetteps@everettwa.gov or 425.257.8810 if you have additional
permitting questions.
Thanks,
- Kelsey Heyd
Associate Planner I Community, Planning & Economic Development
425.257.8731 13200 Cedar Street 2nd Fl., Everett, WA 98201
EVERETT everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
Please reference our website & online resources for updates to our service.
