October 27, 2021 <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Franklin introduced the new Deputy City Clerk, Ashleigh Scott. <br /> Mayor Franklin also commented on Item No. 6 on the Consent Agenda requesting <br /> approval from Council for apply for the Washington State Criminal Justice Training <br /> Commission Grant, which will help the Everett Police Department recruit a more <br /> diverse workforce. She added that there has already been success in recruiting <br /> more diverse candidates; new hires in 2021, 45.5% were officers of color and <br /> 36.4% were women. She stated she wants to see those numbers increase more, <br /> and this grant will help with those efforts. Overall, 17% of our Everett Police <br /> Department workforce are people of color and 10% are women. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Roberts commented that he attended the Northwest <br /> Neighborhood Association meeting. He also stated that he attended the <br /> Association of Washington Cities Climate Resilience and Risk Management Forum <br /> on November 10th and his attendance at the Snohomish County Citizens to <br /> Improve Transportation meeting. He stated they heard a great presentation from <br /> Community Transit on how to integrate the systems with Northgate and Sound <br /> Transit and plan for a similar integration as Sound Transit system moves North in <br /> 2024 that connects the City of Lynnwood. <br /> Council Member Vogeli commented that she attended the Transportation <br /> Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting and stated if anyone is interested in Boards <br /> and Commission to please check out the Transportation Advisory Committee <br /> (TAC) for those interested in transportation. <br /> Council Member Murphy stated he has been working with the Police Chief Dan <br /> Templeman and the Deputy Mayor Nick Harper on an outline of strategies <br /> regarding recruitment and retention moving forward. <br /> • Increase the lateral hiring bonus <br /> 2 <br />
