Mr. Jim Givins
New Castle Mechanical, LLC
Plan Check Number: M1910-006, First Building Review
November 5, 2019
Comments
1. Sheet M-2 shows two separate rectangular hoods that are spaced approximately two feet apart
and offset in the east -west direction. However, the Floor Plan on Sheet A2.1 for Permit No.
B1909-012 show a single square -shaped hood intended to extend over all units and the aisle
between them. The construction drawings are not consistent between the two permits and
shall be coordinated. See IBC Section 107.2.1.
This has never been a single hood. Architectural and Mechanical drawing match.
2. The Plan View on Sheet M-2 shows the MAU-1 oriented in the north -south direction and located
at the north end of the roof. However, the Roof Plan on Sheet A2.2 for Permit No. B1909-012
shows a new MAU located in the center of the roof and oriented in the east -west direction.
Note that Sheet A2.2 includes a screen around the MAU. The MAU as shown on Sheet M-2
conflicts with and is not located within the screen. The construction drawings are not
consistent between the two permits and shall be coordinated. See IBC Section 107.2.1.
Architectural and Mechanical drawing match.
3. The Section on Sheet M-2 indicates that Type I hoods are located against and connected to
noncombustible walls. See IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 1603.1, and IMC Section 507.2.6.
Reference the architectural drawings for Permit No 131909-012. The following comments shall
be addressed:
a. The south hood appears intended to be connected to the north freezer wall shown in the
Floor Plan on Sheet A2.1. Note that the plan indicates the existing door shall be infilled with
construction to match the existing, which is not defined. Sheet A2.1 does include a Wall
Type A utilizing 2x4 wood studs, which are combustible. The construction of the existing
wall and the infill shall be clarified. The hood design may need to be revised.
The South hood design has been revised to show fire rated wall pad on the cooler wall.
The exhaust hood has been listed to be zero clearance from the first submittal.
b. The north hood appears to indicate that it should be connected to a wall located
approximately along the north side of the equipment located in the middle of Kitchen 105 in
the Floor Plan on Sheet A2.1. However, the kitchen does not include a wall at this location.
The mechanical design shall be revised, including seismic bracing if a wall is not provided.
The architectural design may need to be revised to include a wall.
The North hood is now shown to be seismically braced and the wall has been removed to
match the Architectural drawings.
09
3200 Cedar Street
425.257.8810
i
everetteps@everettwa.gov
Everett, WA 98201
425.257.8857 fax
everettwa.gov ermits
