This letter is in response to your Correction Notice, dated August 10,2018. We have addressed the structural corrections only. 1a. Exit stair framing should be designed using 100 psf live load. A revised calculation package is provided, and the relevant revised beam and joist sizes have been included in the structural drawings. Design for new stairways has been provided because the existing stairways do not comply with building code requirements for riser and tread dimensions. lb. Provide guardrail calculations. Included with the new calculation package. (Caic page RP) 1 c. Provide lateral loads calculations related to a new wood framed walls on the west elevation. The added walls have been removed from the permit submittal drawings. The wall still shown on the west elevation is an existing wall. Our intent for this permit submittal is to document requirements for repairs to the existing structure. 1 d. Provide lateral loads design for the parapets. There are no new parapets proposed, and no significant changes to the extent, height, or construction of the existing parapets. The drawings have been revised to clarify that. We include some parapet details because dry rot deterioration of the parapet framing has been discovered in a limited number of areas. We expect that the repairs in those areas will consist of removal and replacement in kind of the damaged framing. For example, the proposed repairs may involve replacing individual wood studs of the parapet, or providing a new railing cap and flashing. No changes to the existing parapet or its connection to the roof structure are proposed. The intent of these corrections is that the structural portions of the drawings conform to the intent of the structural design and applicable structural codes.
