The following is a corresponding itemized response
and clarification to the structural review comments. Please reference the attached revised structural
drawings and/or calculations.
1. GKSE understands that the permit applicant will be providing separate plumbing and
mechanical permit applications.
2. GKSE understands that the permit applicant will be providing an architectural floor plan
noting appropriate information for project context and requirements.
3. Reference attached new structural sheet S2 which contains project structural notes as
requested.
4. Reference attached supplemental structural calculations addressing concerns in item#4 thru
#6. As we discussed on the phone,we have provided supplemental calcs demonstrating that
the storefront beam and connections are adequate for gravity and lateral loads. Please note
that GKSE does not know the construction of the embedded portion of the embed connection
for the storefront beam as it has been embedded in concrete since original construction of the
building. However, the repairs for this project do not change the load magnitudes nor load
path from its pre-fire conditions, and no distress was observed at the time of our site visit.
Also,we have added a retrofit top clip to the storefront beam connection to the concrete to
address any beam connection stability and/or wind load capacity at this location. For your
reference,GKSE will be emailing a suite of pictures of the existing damaged storefront to
assist in your review and provide context for how small the repair area is at the storefront in
terms of loading,configuration,etc.
5.
