However, the submitted documents are not sufficient
for us to perform a review at this time. Construction-level documents need to be submitted for
review. Information is attached to provide guidance. Preliminary comments are provided below to assist in
preparing the drawings, but these are not intended to provide a comprehensive review. Depending on your
experience with the model codes and preparing documents, we recommend consulting with a design
professional to assist you.
1. The submittal generally includes a floor plan sketch and list of proposed changes. Construction-level
drawings should be submitted for review.
2. Continuing with the previous comment, the proposed project involves converting non-habitable space
to habitable space. Structural framing plans for the construction must be provided. The structural
must comply with the requirements for new construction, either as-is or with modifications.
3. The third page includes a list of"triggers" with a statement to eliminate code requirements based on
the proposed duration of use. The code is not subject to proposed use durations. All requirements of
the code must be satisfied for the proposed modifications.
4. The construction plans need to include floor plans for the entire house showing key features such as
the walls, doors, windows, stairs, handrails, and smoke/CO alarms. The plans should be to-
scale. Room sizes and uses should be stated.
Review of your project will be performed in the order received once the required documentation has been
submitted. Please let me know if you have questions.
Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
L.
iii Associate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8813 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: M/W/Th/F: 7:30am-12:OOpm & 1:00pm-3:00pm;Tu: 1:OOpm-3:OOpm
everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
COVID-19 Update: Please reference our website& online resources for updates to our service during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
