CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> A sufficient number of bench marks for levels to enable the Contractor to set grades <br /> at reasonably short distances. <br /> Monuments and control points as shown on the Plans. <br /> The Contractor shall coordinate with the City and Port of Everett and give the se <br /> agencies three weeks notification to allow adequate time to provide the above data. <br /> The Contractor shall ensure a surveying accuracy within the following tolerances: <br /> 1. Slope stakes ±0.1 foot <br /> 2. Subgrade blue tops ±0.01 foot <br /> 3. Stationing ±0.01 foot <br /> 4. Alignment ±0.01 foot <br /> 5. Surfacing red & yellow tops ±0.01 foot <br /> 6. Superstructure elevations ±0.01 foot (from plan elevations) <br /> 7. Substructure ±0.02 foot (from plan elevations) <br /> 8. Utility grade stakes ±0.01 foot <br /> 9. Manholes, vaults and structures ±0.01 foot <br /> The Contractor shall slope stake the roadway and/or utility centerline before any construction <br /> may proceed. Slope stakes shall be set at 50' maximum intervals on tangents and 25' on <br /> curves. Pipe stakes shall be set at a minimum 25' interval on tangent and 10' intervals on <br /> curves with stakes at alignment control points. <br /> Subgrade bluetops and surfacing red and yellow tops shall be set at 50' intervals in tangent <br /> sections, 25' intervals in curve sections, and 10' intervals in intersection radii. <br /> The Contractor's surveyor shall be a licensed surveyor in the State of Washington. The <br /> Contractor shall keep updated survey field notes in a standard field book and in a format set <br /> by the Engineer. These field notes shall include all survey work performed by the Contractor's <br /> surveyor in establishing line, grade and slopes for the construction work. Copies of these field <br /> notes shall be provided to the Engineer upon request and upon completion of the Contract <br /> Work; the field book shall be submitted to the Engineer and become property of the City. <br /> If the survey work provided by the Contractor does not meet the standards of the Engineer, <br /> then the Contractor shall, upon the Engineer's written request, remove the individual or <br /> individuals doing the survey work and the survey work will be completed by the Engineer at <br /> the Contractor's expense. Costs for completing the survey work required by the Engineer will <br /> be deducted from monies due or to become due the Contractor. <br /> The City may spot-check the Contractor's surveying. These spot-checks will not change the <br /> requirements for normal checking and testing as described elsewhere, and do not relieve the <br /> Contractor of the responsibility of producing a finished product that is in accordance with the <br /> Contract. <br /> In all disputes concerning accuracy of lines and elevations, the City shall be assumed correct <br /> and the Contractor shall correct the discrepancies before construction work may proceed.
