The low points were maintained whenever
possible and only elevated in conformance to installing smooth vertical curves to
accommodate pedestrian, bicycle, and occasional maintenance vehicles.
• A concrete section roughened surface was introduced at all low points where stormwater
will drain across the path as requested in the City comments. This concrete surface does
not change the hydrology or drainage pattern and only adds to the longevity of the trail and
adds traction for pedestrians and cyclists.
• The surface of the trail is maintained above flooding level whenever possible by introducing
trail -side ditches, such as in Segment Trail F, to channelize rain water and direct it to the
flow dispersal trench under Trail K, just north of its connection to Trail F. This storm
drainage system does not change the flow pattern; it only enhances it and minimizes flow
over the trail by providing hydraulic conductivity beneath the trail.
