The amended funding ordinance amount for the project was $4,650,000. The project was completed at a total cost of $4,637,116.01. All expenses for the project have been paid. The remaining balance of $12,883.99 will be transferred to CIP-3. Project summary statement: The four baseball fields at the Phil Johnson Ballfields were built in 2002. There was a mix of synthetic turf infields and natural grass outfields. The synthetic turf was heavily worn and parking during field usage was limited. In 2016 the Parks & Community Services Department, with the support of City Council through Resolutions #6995 and #6996, applied for and was awarded a Youth Athletic Facility (YAF) and a Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) grant through the Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) for the renovations at Phil Johnson Ballfields. The renovation project included replacement of existing synthetic turf, replacement of the natural grass outfields with synthetic turf, the addition of a supplemental parking lot, additional pathways, and related storm water facilities. All work has been completed to the satisfaction of the Parks and Facilities Department. Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): Adopt an Ordinance closing a special improvement project entitled "Phil Johnson Ballfields Renovation", Fund 354, Program 054, as established by Ordinance No. 3589-18, and amended by Ordinance No. 3677-19.
