The wall should be a 1-hour rated from both directions. A minimum 5/8"exterior-grade GWB should be
provided outside the exterior panel sheathing under the siding. The rated north and south walls require
inspection ad approval prior to covering.
2. The roof eaves on the north and south sides are limited to 4" measured from the face of the wall. Vents should
not be provided on these sides.
3. Detail 3/04 states that the roof sheathing on the rake edges can extend up to 18 inches without structural
support. This is not correct. Unsupported cantilever sheathing is limited to 9 inches. The rake edges should be
strengthened as needed.
Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
Li
iii Associate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8813 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Hours: M/W/Th/F: 7:30am-12:OOpm & 1:00pm-3:OOpm;Tu: 1:OOpm-3:OOpm
everettwa.gov I Facebook I Twitter
From:Taylor Fjeran<taylor.fjeran@gmail.com>
Sent:Tuesday,June 29, 2021 2:30 PM
To:Steve Banks<SBanks@everettwa.gov>; Drew Martin <dmartin@everettwa.gov>
Cc: Kurt Keck<KKeck@everettwa.gov>; Michael List<list.micha@gmail.com>
Subject: B2006-008 2110 Rockefeller Detached Garage Permit
Hello Steve and Drew,
I was referred to you both from the permit service desk as our building inspector, Kurt Keck is out of town right now.We
are building a detached garage (Permit#B2006-008), and it appears that the approved permit did not have any fire-
assembly listed. Kurt brought this to our attention and requested that we provide a document with fire-rated materials
per IRC302.1. I've attached the document that our designer provided with the fire-rated materials. We were planning on
asking Kurt this in person today during our exterior sheath inspection, but he is currently on vacation. Our contractor is
going to start siding tomorrow(Wednesday), but before he does, we were hoping you could confirm that the attached
fire-assembly is in compliance.Thank you!
1
