For the purpose of establishing the holiday shift,it shall be determined as the day on which the shift <br /> starts. The City may refuse a request for a floating holiday(Special Off)if it reduces the minimum <br /> manning level below the level stated in Article 27. <br /> 3. For non-suppression personnel,the City agrees to pay 1/30th of the member's annual base salary each <br /> year to each employee working a 40-hour work week. The 1/30th is calculated for an eight-hour <br /> holiday. In return,each employee will work two holidays at regular time. The two holidays worked <br /> will be mutually agreed upon between the employee and supervisor. The holidays may only be <br /> changed by mutual agreement. The employee may choose to use vacation or compensatory time in <br /> lieu of working the agreed upon holidays. <br /> Holiday pay will be paid twice a year. Fifty(50)percent will be paid in July(the first paycheck that <br /> includes July 4)and fifty(50)percent will be paid the following January(the first paycheck that <br /> includes December 25). To be eligible for any part of the first payment,an employee must have <br /> worked back at least one holiday or substituted vacation pay or comp time for holiday pay by July 4; <br /> and to be eligible for any part of the second payment,an employee must have worked back at least <br /> two holidays or substituted vacation pay or comp time to cover the two working holidays. An <br /> employee who leaves will be paid on a pro-rated basis(the number of the 11 holidays that have <br /> passed). <br /> During any holiday week,non-suppression personnel may continue to work their normal schedule(ie <br /> 4/10). The employment shall augment their pay with vacation or compensatory time to retain the 40 <br /> hour work week. Employee will be allowed another day off within the same work week if holiday <br /> falls on employees regularly scheduled day off. <br /> 4. For suppression personnel,the City agrees to pay 1/18th of the member's annual base salary each year <br /> to each employee working a 42-hour average work week. The money shall be paid in lieu of all other <br /> holiday pay . Any person not present because of illness, injury,being on disability leave, emergency <br /> leave,or permanent assignment out of suppression on a holiday on which he is scheduled to work, <br /> shall have the sum equal to 1/11th deducted from the next paycheck that includes holiday pay. <br /> Suppression employees that are moved to a weekday work week will observe the holidays listed in <br /> 12 <br />
