section one and their holiday pay will be prorated accordingly.(Holiday pay will be reduced by .03 of <br /> the holiday pay for each 8-hour holiday taken or they will be allowed to take vacation for the holiday. <br /> Holiday pay will be paid twice a year. Fifty(50)percent will be paid in July(the first paycheck that <br /> includes July 4)and fifty(50)percent will be paid the following January(the first paycheck that <br /> includes December 25). An employee who leaves will be paid on a pro-rated basis(the number of the <br /> 11 holidays that have passed). <br /> 5. Floating holidays(Special Off)may be accrued without limit in number and taken at the employee's <br /> request,provided that the Department has the right to deny a request where taking the day would <br /> result in overtime. So that the employee may have a reasonable opportunity to plan for the usage of <br /> floating holidays(Special Off),the Department will ensure that if the approval of the day off does not <br /> appear to cause overtime as of fourteen(14)days prior to the date of the day off,then the Department <br /> will assure the employee that he/she may take the day off. The only circumstances in which floating <br /> holidays(Special Off)will be redeemable for cash(compensable based on the employee's then <br /> applicable hourly rate of pay)shall be if the employee dies while in the employment of the City.: <br /> 6. Special off days,either floating vacation days or floating holidays,will be taken in 10-hour <br /> increments beginning at 0800, 14-hour increments beginning at 1800 hours or 24-hour increments <br /> beginning at 0800 hours. <br /> 13 <br />
