PLAN TO DO:
In 2022, with ongoing concerns about COVID-19, we hope to improve the self-guided interpretive
signage that focuses on the animal and plant life seen on Jetty Island. Additionally,we will offer nature
walks, campfires with smores every Saturday night, arts & crafts, beach clean-up events, sandcastle
contests, and educational classes. While the sand and surf are plenty to attract visitors to Jetty Island,
we believe the unique programming once they are on the island will truly make their experience one to
be remembered for a lifetime.
TANGIBLE BENEFITS TO THE COMMUNITY:
The City of Everett contracts with Argosy Cruise Lines to provide ferry service from the Port of Everett to Jetty
Island. In 2021, the Queens Launch transported 20,461 people to and from Jetty Island. Many of these visitors
patronize shops, restaurants, and hotels throughout the city, with over 4,750 visitors traveling from over 50+ miles to
enjoy this gem. During the busiest times of summer, the Queens Launch makes four trips an hour to and from the
island and is the only means of access for people who do not own their own watercraft. Everett Parks is partnering
with Snohomish County to provide over 300 free passes for low income county residents who qualify. We believe
that Jetty Island should be experienced by all.
INTANGIBLE BENEFITS TO COMMUNITY:
Summers on Jetty Island are a Snohomish County tradition, signaling the beginning of
summer and offering access to the warmest waters north of California in a pristine
nature preserve. Jetty Island has become a destination for kite boarders, stand up
paddleboard enthusiasts, kayakers and families who want to enjoy a day at the beach.
Kite boarders from around the region come to the island to learn, practice, and
compete. This island paradise draws visitors of all kinds, from adventurers to families.
VISITOR IMPACT:
In 2021, the Queens Launch transported 20,461 people to and from Jetty Island. Many
of these visitors patronize shops, restaurants, and hotels throughout the city, with over
4,750 visitors traveling from over 50+ miles to enjoy this gem.
EVALUATE PROJECT SUCCESS:
A truly successful season for us would mean that everyone who wants to experience
Jetty Island gets to, and everyone who visits has a fun and safe experience. The new
reservation software will also help us collect even more data about where our visitors
are coming from, which will help us make estimates on hotel stays.
WILL PROJECT TAKE PLACE WITHOUT TPA ASSISTANCE:
Yes.
