pCORROSION PROBE, INC.
THE COMPLETE ENGINEERING APPROACH - FROM DETECTION TO CORRECTION
December 13, 2021
Via E-mail: CGish@BrwnCald.com
Mr. Casey Gish
Brown and Caldwell
Seattle, WA
Subject: Revised Proposal for Assessment of Concrete and Embedded Steel Members — City of
Everett,WA
Dear Mr. Gish:
Corrosion Probe, Inc. (CPI) is pleased to provide this proposal for the subject services. As part of a water
filtration plant improvements project, Brown and Caldwell (BC)has asked CPI to perform assessment of
concrete and embedded steel members in a splitting structure within the plant, and to provide
corrosion/materials design input and consulting. The structure reportedly has a humid, chlorine-rich
atmosphere, with open channels and fluctuating water levels. To fulfill this request, CPI proposes the
following scope of work and cost.
Scope of Work
A. Desktop Review—Review available design, construction, and operational information about the
structure.
B. Site Work—Visit the water filtration plant to perform inspection and assessment of concrete and
embedded steel members within the splitting structure. Deteriorated areas of concrete surfaces will
be probed and measured for cement paste loss, and pH measurements will be taken as appropriate.
Concrete powder samples will be collected for subsequent laboratory analysis, as warranted by the
above inspection and testing. Corroded steel components will be measured for thickness loss using
calipers. Corrosion deposits will be scraped from corroded areas for subsequent compositional
analysis.
C. Laboratory Analysis—Collected corrosion deposit and powder samples will be analyzed at CPI's
affiliate, Corrosion Testing Laboratories.
D. Reporting—Prepare and submit a formal, written report describing the site work performed and
the associated field and laboratory analysis results and including recommendations for
rehabilitation or replacement and methods for coatings-related repairs.
E. Design Input—Provide recommendations to repair, replace,or no action for all corroded materials
observed during the site visit. BC will provide a list of corroded components and materials in the
existing facility to be observed by CPI during the site visit. Where protective coatings or
specialized grout or concrete products are part of a repair recommendation, provide specifications
CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS:
12 INDUSTRIAL PARK ROAD•P.O.BOX 178•CENTERBRQOK,CT 06409-0178•PHONE:[860)767-4402•FAX:[8601 767-4407•WWW.CPIENGINEERING.COM
ALABAMA • ARKANSAS * DELAWARE • FLORIDA • GEORGIA • MAINE
MASSACHUSSETTS • NEW JERSEY • NORTH CAROLINA • OHIO • PENNSYLVANIA • TEXAS • WISCONSIN
