BAt;KWATER VALVF, AUTHORIZATION <br />Permission to �isoect. The Owner grants permission to the Ciry and its coniractor to <br />inspect the plumbing and drainage of the Owner's property for the purpose of gathering <br />infomiation regarding whether a backwater valve should be iustalled. The City and <br />Owner will cooperate to dete�mine a mutually agreeable time for the inspection. 'fhe <br />inspeceon is at the City's sole cost. <br />2. Backwater Valve. <br />A. Citv Review of Insoection and Permission to Iostall Aackwatcr Vah�e. The City <br />will review the results of the inspection and will detcrmine wl�ether a backwater <br />valve sliould be installed. By sigung tlus authorization, the O�vner grants the <br />City and its contractor permission to install ihe backwater valve if the City <br />determines that a backwatcr valve should be installed. Tlvs installation is at the <br />City's solc cost. <br />II. Other Devices. There may be other devices that provide as good as (or greater) <br />protectiun thaa a backwater valve. By signing this authori�ation, the Owner <br />�anty the City ac�d its contractor permission to install the other oevice if the City <br />determines that it should be installed. This installution is at the City's sole cost. <br />However, if the Ownet desires installation of the uther device, but the City has <br />detertnined to only install a backwater valve, then the Owner may install the other <br />device, and the City will reimburse the Owner up to the installation cost of the <br />backwatet valvc. <br />C. Future Maintenance. Upon installauon, d�e backwater valve uc other device is the <br />Owner's property. T'he Owner is exclusively responsible to maintain it. <br />Other Recommcnded Im�rvements. After the completion of the inspection, thc City <br />may providc the Owner wil: a list of oti�er recomtnended improvemenLS ro the property's <br />plumbing and drainugc systems.
