' SECTION 40 90 00 <br /> PROCESS CONTROL SYSTEM GENERAL PROVISIONS <br /> PART 1 : GENERAL <br /> ' 1.01 SUMMARY <br /> A. This section specifies the components of the instrumentation and control system <br /> ' including: control panel(s) and the general requirements for the construction and <br /> arrangement of the associated equipment and field instrumentation. <br /> B. The construction will be phased. The existing control system shall remain in <br /> operation until the new control system is installed. The existing pumps shall be <br /> removed from the old power system and connected to the new power system <br /> one at a time. The Contractor shall include adequate time for commissioning and <br /> testing each of the five pumping systems separately. <br /> C. Work and materials specified in this section include: <br /> ' 1. PLC control cabinet(s) (MCP), I/O, and associated equipment and <br /> instrumentation. <br /> ' 2. Motor starters and power distribution equipment. <br /> 3. Field Instrumentation, installation and calibration requirements. <br /> ' 4. Shop and field testing, and calibration of power&control system <br /> components and equipment. <br /> ' 1.02 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION <br /> A. Provide one PLC based control panel (MCP)with Rugid PLCs for all equipment <br /> ' control, monitoring and alarming. <br /> B. Provide field instrumentation and control devices and installation details. <br /> ' C. Coordinate and implement controls for existing pumps, including existing <br /> solenoid valves, valve limit switches, and pressure switches. <br /> D. Coordinate controls for vendor provided control systems, including the following: <br /> 1. Medium-Voltage Adjustable Speed Drives <br /> ' 2. Automatic Transfer Switches <br /> 1.03 SYSTEM INTEGRATOR <br /> ' A. The System Integrator shall be responsible for the final design and assembly of <br /> the instrumentation and control system and control panels. <br /> ' B.
