Section 20: STREET DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named officers and assistants <br /> in the Street Department, to-wit: <br /> One Superintendent; one Clerk; one Auto Repairman; <br /> one Asst. Auto Repairman; three Foremen; seven <br /> Truck Drivers; one Crusherman; two Heavy Equipment <br /> Operators; two Bulldozer Operators; two Gradermen; <br /> two Sweepermen; one Flusherman (night) ; one or more <br /> Utility Laborers; one or more Day Laborers. <br /> Said officers, assistants and employees shall perform the <br /> duties pertaining to such office as indicated by the name of <br /> their respective employments, and such other duties as the <br /> Superintendent of Streets or Commissioner of Public Works shall, <br /> from time to time, authorize and direct. <br /> Section 21: WATER DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named officers, assistants <br /> and employees in the Water Department of the City of Everett, <br /> to-wit: <br /> One Superintendent; one Assistant Superintendent; <br /> one General Foreman; one Distribution System Foreman; <br /> one Clerk; one Accountant; four Water Control Station <br /> Operators; one Headworks Operator; one Senior <br /> Engineering Aide; one Engineering Aide; one or more <br /> Foremen; two Welders; one Blacksmith; one Inspector; <br /> one Assistant Inspector; five Heavy Equipment Operators; <br /> one Machinist; one Auto Repairman; one Assistant <br /> Auto Repairman; one Serviceman; one Serviceman's <br /> Helper; two Meter Repairmen; one Carpenter; one or <br /> more Utility Laborers; one Senior Engineer; one <br /> Junior Engineer; one or more Day Laborers; four Radio <br /> Technicians (part time) ; one Basin Patrolman. <br /> The Superintendent shall be in general charge and have <br /> supervision of the Water Department. The other officers, <br /> assistants and employees shall perform such duties as pertain to <br /> the nature of their office and as authorized and directed by the <br /> Superintendent of the Water System and Commissioner of Public <br /> Works. <br /> Section 22: It is the purpose of this Ordinance to fix <br /> the number of and description of the permanent assistants, <br /> deputies and employees in the various offices of the City of <br /> Everett, and nothing herein contained shall be construed so as to <br /> prevent the various officers and various heads of the departments <br /> of the City of Everett from employing, with the consent of the <br /> City Council, such additional employees, as, from time to time, <br /> may be necessary in the proper discharge of the duties of such <br /> officers, or from discontinuing such temporary or part time <br /> employees when the necessity therefor has ceased to exist. <br /> Section 23: The appointment of all employees in all <br /> departments, where required by the City Charter, shall be subject <br /> to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett, provided in <br /> event vacancies occur and there is no eligibility list from which <br /> said vacancy may be filled, temporary appointment may be made of <br /> persons without Civil Service standing. <br /> The Stenographer in the City Attorney Department shall be <br /> appointed by the City Attorney. <br /> The Special City Attorney shall be appointed by the City <br /> Council. <br /> -5- <br />
