for no purpose other than the conveying of gas. All such pipe <br /> shall be made free from internal obstructions, splits, or other <br /> imperfections which would render it unfit for the purpose intend- <br /> ed and the ends thereof shall be properly reamed. <br /> 2. All fittings used in connection with the house gas <br /> piping shall be of black maleable iron. The use of cast iron <br /> fittings is prohibited. <br /> 3. All joints between pipe and fittings, unless welded, <br /> shall be screwed joints (American Standard pipe threads) . Such <br /> joints shall be made up with suitable thread compound. <br /> 4. All unions used in house piping shall be ground joint <br /> types. Nipples and couplings are permissable. <br /> 5. The use of bushings or street fittings in any house <br /> piping is prohibited. <br /> 6. The use of gate and globe valves is prohibited. Only <br /> Standard stop cocks and lubricated plug valves shall be used. <br /> All valves 22" or larger shall be lubricated plug valve type. <br /> 7. The use of unions in concealed locations is prohibited. <br /> 8. All gas outlets shall extend through the floor or base- <br /> board not less than two and one-half (22) inches. <br /> 9. No outlet shall be less than one-half (2) inch pipe. <br /> 10. Greatest length allowed for house piping shall be as <br /> follows : <br /> 1/2" 20 feet l " 100 feet <br /> 3/4" 60 feet 1J.2" 150 feet <br /> 1 " 80 feet 2 " 200 feet <br /> SECTION 18 - PIPING INSPECTIONS <br /> Upon completion of the installation, alteration or repair <br /> of any consumer's gas piping or appliance done under a permit <br /> issued by the Administrative Authority, and prior to the use <br /> thereof, the Administrative Authority shall be notified that such <br /> gas piping or appliances are ready for inspection, and the <br /> Administrative Authority shall cause said gas piping or gas <br /> appliances to be inspected within twenty-four (24) hours of such <br /> notification, Sundays and Holidays not included. All excavations <br /> required for the installation of consumer underground piping <br /> -14- <br />
