GAS FITTING - The installation, extension, altera- tion and/or repair of gas piping, gas appliances, vents, measurin_ devices, regulating valves and/or appurtenances for the storage and/or supply or dispensing of any natural gas, manufactured gas, liquefied petroleum gas-air or mixture thereof. 9. HOUSE PIPING - shall mean the gas piping extending from the point of delivery to the gas appliance. 10. INSPECTOR shall mean, and is the Administrative Authority so designated by the Commissioner of Public Works, or his duly authorized representative. 11. MASTER GAS FITTER - is a person who engages in the business of furnishing by contract or day labor or otherwise, any material, labor,or either,for the placing or installation of gas piping, fittings or gas fixtures intended for the conducting of gas in any building or structure or elsewhere and has had issued to him a Master Gas Fitter's Certificate of Competency pursuant to the provisions of this ordinance. 12. NEW GAS APPLIANCE - shall mean a gas appliance which has not been previously sold, installed and used. 13. TYPE "B" VENT - shall mean approved vent piping of non-combustible, corrosion resistant material of sufficient thickness, cross-sectional area, and heat insulating quality to avoid excess temperatures on adjacent combustible materials, and having bell and spigot or other joints approved by testing laboratories. 14. USED GAS APPLIANCE - shall mean a gas appliance which has been previously sold, installed and used. 15. VENT - shall mean a pipe or flue designed and in- stalled to carry the products of combustion from an appliance to the outside atmosphere. 16. VENT OPENING - shall meqn an opening or collar which is provided on a gas appliance for the purpose of connecting the vent. 17. VENTED APPLIANCE shall mean a gas appliance designed io be -3-
