. . . <br /> Said officers, assistants and employees shall perform the <br /> duties pertaining to such office as indicated by the name of their <br /> respective employments, and such other duties as the Superintendent <br /> of Streets or Commissioner of Public Works shall, from time to time, <br /> authorize and direct. <br /> Section 20: WATER DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named officers, assistants <br /> and employees in the Water Department of the City of Everett, to-wit: . <br /> One Superintendent; one Assistant Superintendent; one <br /> General Foreman; one Distribution System Foreman; one <br /> Clerk; one Accountant; four Water Control Station <br /> operators; one Headworks Operator; one or more Senior <br /> Engineering Aides; one or more Foremen; two Welders; <br /> one Blacksmith; one Inspector; one Assistant Inspector; <br /> one or more Heavy Equipment Operators; one Machinist; <br /> one Auto Repairman; one. Assistant Auto Repairman; one <br /> Serviceman; one or more Servicemen Helpers; one or more <br /> Meter Repairmen; one Carpenter; one or more Utility <br /> Laborers; one Senior Engineer; one Junior Engineer; one <br /> or more Day Laborers; four Radio Technicians (part time); <br /> one Basin Patrolman; and one Special Hydraulic Engineer <br /> (licensed ) (part time) . <br /> The Superintendent shall be in general charge and have <br /> supervision of the Water Department. The other officers, assistants <br /> 1 and employees shall perform such duties as pertain to the nature of <br /> their office and as authorized and directed by the Superintendent of <br /> the Water System and Commissioner of Public Works. <br /> [ Section21 : It is the purpose of this Ordinance to fix <br /> the number or and description of the permanent assistants, deputies <br /> and employees in the various offices of the City of Everett, and <br /> nothing herein contained shall be construed so as to prevent the <br /> various officers and various heads of the departments of the City of <br /> Everett from employing, with the consent of the City Council, such <br /> additional employees, as, from time to time, may be necessary in the <br /> proper discharge of the duties of such officers, or from discontin- <br /> uing such temporary or part time employees when the necessity <br /> therefor has ceased to exist. <br /> Section 22: The appointment of all employees in all <br /> departments, where required by the City Charter, shall be made sub- <br /> ject to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett, provided, <br /> in event vacancies occur and there is no eligibility list from which <br /> said vacancy may be filled, temporary appointment may be made of <br /> persons without Civil Service standing. <br /> The Stenographer in the City Attorney Department shall be <br /> appointed by the City Attorney, <br /> The Special City Attorney shall be appointed by the City <br /> Council. <br /> The City Clerk shall be ex officio Secretary of the <br /> Civil Service Commission. <br /> The Assistant and Special Examiners in the Civil Service <br /> Department shall be appointed by the Civil Service Commission. <br /> d <br /> The Clerk of the Police Court Department shall be appoini- <br /> ed by the Police Justice. <br /> 1 <br />
