ORDINANCE NO. 3461 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 3 , 3a, 4, 5 and 14 OF ORD . <br /> NO. 3043 OF THE CITY OF EVERETT ENTITLED : <br /> An Ordinance relating to and regulating the sale , repair, <br /> installation, maintenance , use and operation of oil <br /> burners, oil burning equipment , oil burning kitchen <br /> ranges, and oil burning floor furnaces , defining <br /> terms, providing for the sale , repair, inspection, <br /> approval and installation of the same and fees in <br /> connection therewith; defining certain misdemeanors <br /> in relation thereto ; providing penalties for the <br /> violation thereof; repealing Ordinance No. 2719 of <br /> the City of Everett and all other ordinances and <br /> parts of ordinances in conflict herewith and declaring <br /> an emergency. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE , THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 3043 of the <br /> City of Everett is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 3 : It shall be unlawful to install, or <br /> cause to be installed, or repair any oil burner or oil <br /> burning equipment without such person installing or repair- <br /> ing such equipment first obtaining an installation permit <br /> from the Fire Chief of the City of Everett, which permit <br /> shall be issued if the equipment to be installed or re- <br /> paired complies with the ordinance. <br /> Section 2: That Section 3a of Ordinance No. 3043 of <br /> the City of Everett is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 3a: It shall be unlawful to use or <br /> operate any oil burning equipment or oil burner, without <br /> first obtaining a Certificate of Inspection from the Fire <br /> Chief of the City of Everett , which shall be issued if <br /> the equipment complies with the ordinance. <br /> Section 3 : That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 3043 of <br /> the City of Everett is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Section 4: Where oil burning systems, using <br /> a pump to deliver oil fuel from an above-ground oil storage <br /> or supply tank to the burner, are installed or used, the <br /> construction of the tank and its distance from the heating <br /> device containing the oil burner and all piping in con- <br /> nection therewith, shall comply with the provisions of <br /> this ordinance relating to gravity oil burning systems, <br /> except in addition thereto there shall be a return line <br /> from burner to the tank. If the suction outlet from the <br /> oil supply tank of such systems is located below the level <br /> of the oil burner, or an approved anti-syphoning device <br /> is provided in the oil feed pipe to the burner, such oil <br /> burning systems may be installed and used in any story of <br />
