• - <br /> • <br /> Section 19: STREET DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named officers and assistants <br /> in the Street Department, to-wit: <br /> One Superintendent; One Clerk; One Auto Repairman; One <br /> Assistant Auto Repairman; Four Foremen; Nine Truck <br /> Drivers; One Crusherman; One Donkeyman and Equipment <br /> Operator; Two -ulldozer Operations; Two Gradermen; One <br /> Yardman; One NightWatchman; One or more Utility <br /> Laborers; and One or more Day Laborers. <br /> Said officers, assistants and employees shall perform the <br /> duties pertaining to such office as indicated by the name of their <br /> respective employments, and such other duties as the Superintenden <br /> of Streets or Commissioner of Public Works shall, from time to <br /> time, authorize and direct. <br /> Section 20: WATER DEPARTMENT <br /> There shall be the following named officers, assistants <br /> and employees in the Water Department of the City of Everett, <br /> to-wit: <br /> One Superintendent; One Assistant Superintendent; One <br /> Distribution System Foreman; One Chief Clerk; One Clerk; <br /> One Accountant ; Four Water Control Station Operators; <br /> One Headworks Operator; Two Senior Engineering Aides; <br /> One Engineering Aide; One or more Foremen; One Welder; <br /> One Welder' s Helper; One Blacksmith; One Blacksmith' s <br /> Helper; One Inspector; One Assistant Inspector; One or <br /> more Heavy Equipment Operators; One or more Truck Drivers; <br /> One Machinist; One Auto Repairman; One Assistant Auto <br /> Repairman; One or more Servicemen; One or more Service- <br /> men Helpers; Two Meter Repairmen; One Carpenter; One or <br /> more Utility Laborers; One Senior Engineer; One or more <br /> Day Laborers; Four Radio Technicians (part time). <br /> The Superintendent shall be in general charge and have <br /> supervision of the cater Department. The other officers, assistants <br /> and employees shall perform such duties as pertain to the nature <br /> of their office and as authorized and directed by the Superintende t <br /> df the Water System and Commissioner of Public Works. <br /> Section 21: It is the purpose of this Ordinance to fix <br /> the number and description of the permanent assistants, deputies <br /> and employees in the various offices of the City of Everett, and <br /> nothing herein contained shall be construed so as to prevent the <br /> various officers and various heads of the Department of the City <br /> of Everett from employing, with the consent of the City Council, <br /> such additional employees, as, from time to time, may be necessary <br /> in the proper discharge of the duties of such officers, or from <br /> discontinuing such temporary employees when the necessity therefor <br /> has ceased to exist. <br /> Section 22: The appointment of all employees in all <br /> Departments, where required by the City Charter, shall be made <br /> subject to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett; <br /> PROVIDED, in event vacancies occur and there is no eligibility lis • <br /> from which said vacancy may be filled, temporary appointment may <br /> be made of persons without Civil Service standing. <br /> The assistant "ity Attorney and the Stenographer in the <br /> City Attorney Department shall be appointed by the City Attorney. <br /> -5- <br />
