• <br /> • <br /> ORDINANCE NO. ,%3 c3 <br /> AN ORDINANCE granting a franchise to the Everett City <br /> Lines, Inc . , a Washington corporation, its successors and <br /> assigns, for the establishment , maintenance and operation of <br /> a motor bus transportation system in the City of Everett, for <br /> the transportation for hire of passengers as a common carrier, <br /> and fixing the terms and conditions of such grant. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1 Whenever used in this Ordinance, the following terms shall have <br /> DEFINITION <br /> OF TERMS the meaning herein specified: <br /> The term "company" means the Everett City Lines , Inc . , a <br /> corporation, its successors and assigns. <br /> The term "City" means the City of Everett, and whenever <br /> the term "City" is used in a territorial sense, it shall be <br /> held to refer to the territory included within the corporate <br /> limits of said city, as they may from time to time exist, and <br /> to such additional territory as may, for the purpose of this <br /> Ordinance, come under the jurisdiction of said city. <br /> The term "City Council" means the present governing body <br /> of the city, or the incumbants of any office hereafter created <br /> by law or by charter performing similar functions. <br /> The term "streets" means the streets, avenues, alleys, <br /> bridges and other public ways in the city, however they may <br /> be designated. <br /> The term "motor bus" means any trackless vehicle propelled <br /> by power generated by gasoline , oil, electricity or otherwise, <br /> but does not include any vehicle using overhead wire. <br /> The term "headways" means the interval of time elapsing <br /> between the passage at any given point on any route by a motor <br /> bus and the passage at the same point by the next motor bus <br /> -1- <br />
